EKG/ECG

An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG - both refer to the same procedure) records the electrical signal from the heart to check for different heart conditions. Electrodes are placed on the chest to record the heart's electrical signals, which cause the heart to beat. The signals are shown as waves on an attached computer monitor or printer.

ICD

An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is a device that detects any life-threatening, rapid heartbeat. This abnormal heartbeat is called an arrhythmia. If it occurs, the ICD quickly sends an electrical shock to the heart. The shock changes the rhythm back to normal. This is called defibrillation.

PICC

A peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is a thin, flexible tube that is inserted into a vein in the upper arm and guided (threaded) into a large vein above the right side of the heart called the superior vena cava. It is used to give intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, chemotherapy, and other drugs. It is also used for taking blood samples.

Medication

Beta-blockers, as a class of drugs, are primarily used to treat cardiovascular diseases and other conditions. They are also used to treat less common conditions such as long QT syndrome.

Ceftriaxone (Rocephin) is an antibiotic that treats many types of bacterial infections and prevents infections from surgery. It's only available in injection form

Heparin is a type of anticoagulant slowing the formation of blood clots; it is made by the liver, lungs, and other tissues in the body and can also made in the laboratory. Fragmin is a type of heparin.

Coumadin -  makes blood less likely to form clots. It is important to take it exactly as told. Changing intake, taking other medicines, and eating certain foods all can change the way it works and may make it more likely to form a clot or have bleeding problems.

Morphine - is a non-synthetic narcotic derived from opium used for the treatment of pain.
