Alice Wong is currently founder and director of the Disability Visibility Project.
She is a writer; she is a columnist for Teen Vogue and her essays have appeared in The New York Times, KQED, and YES! Magazine, among other publications.
She has received multipe awards for her leadership and service on behalf of the disability community:
- Mayor's Disability Council Beacon Award in 2010,
- the first-ever Chancellor's Disability Service Award in 2010
- the 2007 Martin Luther King, Jr. Award at her alma mater of UCSF
- served on the National Council on Disability (2013–2015)
- the 2016 American Association of People with Disabilities Paul G. Hearne Leadership Award
- selected as a Ford Foundation Disability Futures Fellow in 2020
- listed on the BBC's 100 Women 2020
- is an online community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture.
