Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons licenses are a response to the growing restrictions of basic copyright law. Authors can use a Creative Commons license to signal to others which rights they reserve for their work. For example, a photographer may want to allow his images to be used by anyone who is not using it for commercial purposes, or a musician could release their music under a license that allows others to remix their work as long as they post the remix with a similar license. These licenses give authors more control over their work while also opening their materials up for a wider array of uses.
