Research guidance for Sociology students

Get started with the library catalog

Use the CC library catalog to find books, DVDs, and other things in our local collection, including items in Special Collections and the Seay Music Library. It links to online resources such as e-books, government publications, and streaming video.

Please ask at the Research Desk or Circulation Desk if you need help.

Prospector

Search Prospector, a union catalog, for items you can borrow from librties in Colorado and the region.

  • It generally take from 3-5 business days.
  • You will receive an email notification when requested items arrive.
  • Prospector books can be picked up at the Circulation Desk.

If Prospector won't accept your login, please contact the Circulation Desk at (719) 389-6184.

Tip: Not every library in Colorado is in the Prospector system. You may be able to find books in local public libraries and access them on-site.

WorldCat

Use WorldCat to borrow books not available at CC or through Prospector.

  • WorldCat is a "union catalog" of libraries all over the world.
  • WorldCat can tell you how many libraries have a particular item and give you a list of holding libraries, organized by geographic location.
  • You may be able to find books in local public libraries and access them on-site.

*Please note that ordering books through InterLibrary Loan may take up to two weeks.

Book Emergency 911

The book I want is not available in Tutt and I can't wait for Prospector or ILL.

Search the catalogs of UCCS Library or Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD)

It's 5AM and I need one more book for my paper.

Try Google Books -- the book you need may have full or partial viewing.

The popular book for my class is sold out at the Worner book store.

Check out Poor Richard's Book Store just down the street on Tejon.
