It can be hard to get your head around a thesis project when you are used to the block plan.
Many of the sections on this guide are designed to help you brek out of the block and think about research and writing that takes months to accomplish.
A quick distinction:
Prospector is the system that lets you find books (and DVDs and other things) in libraries across Colorado. It's the name of both the catalog and the service. Prospector loans usually take 3-5 business days to get to Tutt Library from the time you order them.
Interlibrary Loan (or ILL) is the name of the service that lets you borrow books (and other things) and get journal articles and chapters from libraries across the country and around the world.
There is no single ILL database or catalog, though for books you will want to use WorldCat. For articles and chapters, you can use any database that is appropriate for your research.
For Prospector, you already have an account if you can check out books at CC. You'll just use your TIGER number at the bottom of your Gold Card.
For ILL, you must register a new account for Illiad, our ILL system (ILL-iad, get it?). You can get started on the login screen, just follow the directions for first-time users.
When the materials you want are not available in the catalog or Prospector, you can search in WorldCat and request them through Interlibrary Loan.
