Former Colorado Poet Laureate: CC's Dave Mason
In addition to the National Poet Laureate, many states select one poet with the honor of serving as their state Poet Laureate. A recent Colorado Poet Laureate was David Mason, who served from 2014-2016, while also teaching poetry writing workshops and Literature courses at Colorado College.

The Press at Colorado College
From its inception in 1978, The Press has served as a classroom for students interested in book arts and literature. Students at The Press learn to design books and broadsides, set type by hand and with the computer, make photopolymer plates, print on the letterpress, and bind books.

Pikes Peak Poet Laureate
Susan M. Peiffer is the current Pike's Peak Poet Laureate for 2016-2018. Susan Peiffer is a published and nationally recognized poet who studied creative writing and theology at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Since relocating to Colorado Springs in 2012, Susan has become deeply invested in the local poetry community. Currently the Program Director of Hear Here Poetry, she has facilitated several workshops and classes on different aspects of writing and performance, was named the RAW Colorado Springs Artist of the Year, and was the recipient of three Pikes Peak Arts Council awards for excellence in performance poetry and leadership.

Established in 1921, the PSC meets monthly in Denver. The website offers regional contests and links to national contests and other things of interest to writers & readers of poetry.
Established in 1982, Poetry West is a non-profit and voluntary organization which offers a place for Poets and Writers to gather for the enjoyment of poetry. We host, organize and participate in a number of poetry related events in the Pikes Peak region.
