GNIS
Geographic Names Information System
for the US and Territories
   - includes features normally on USGS 7½ minute (1:24,000 scale) topographic maps
   - ongitude& latitude, and feature information
   - searchable by feature name
   - may limit by attributes (state, county, and feature category, etc.).
   

CC has paper copies for Topos covering Colorado and sourthwest states.

U.S. Gazetteer
  - identify places to view with the Tiger Map server and obtain census data from the 1990 Census Lookup (Census Bureau)

Maplandia.com
  - gazetteer searchable worldwide geographical features (not government site)

National Atlas of the U.S. - interactive - design and print page-sized maps or download map layers. Resolution is generally on a national or state scale. Includes hundreds of data layers relating to agriculture, biology, climate, environment, geology, history, transportation, people, and water.

Geography: U.S. Geological Survey - provides online maps and map tools: how to read and make maps, resources on land use, and satellite images related to the journey of Lewis and Clark; design your own map to display boundaries, geographic names, transportation systems, water, land cover, climate, and more.
