E-books at Tutt Library: NOOK

1) Creating an Adobe Digital Editions Account

Adobe Digital Editions is already loaded on library lobby computers and on most computer lab computers.

1.) Go to this link to setup an Adobe account. Your login information will be used to authenticate software later on.

2.) Download and install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to your computer.

3.) As part of the download process for ADE, you will be asked to authorize ADE using your Adobe account.  If you are not prompted you can authorize ADE by clicking on Library then “Authorize Computer” in the drop down menu in ADE.

4.) Now that ADE is active on your computer, when you download an ebook from the Tutt Library catalog it will be saved in ADE.

2) Adding E-books to your NOOK

(Note: Please make sure you have followed the instructions, located on the left, to create an Adobe Digital Editions account first.)

1.) Plug the NOOK's USB plug into computer and nook to connect it to the computer with Adobe Digital editions open.

2.) Adobe Digital Editions will recognize the nook and ask you to authorize the device. Select "authorize" on your computer to authorize the NOOK.

3.) Once authorized you can drag e-books from your library and place them on MyNOOK under the list of bookshelves on the left side of the screen in Adobe Digital Editions.  Access the library by clicking the picture of three book spines in the upper left corner of ADE.

4.) After you have moved the books you want to your NOOK, use the safe disconnect icon on the Windows taskbar to safely disconnect the NOOK from computer. If you don’t use the safe disconnect the e-books you have copied over to the NOOK may become corrupted.

5.) Remove the USB cable from the computer and the NOOK, then push the raised "n" button on the front of the NOOK to bring up the menu and select "library."

6.) On the library screen select "my stuff" in the upper right hand corner, and then select "my files" from the drop down menu.

7.) On the files screen, select the "Digital Editions" folder, then click on the e-book (pdf or epub file) you wish to read. The e-reader may ask you which program to use to open the file, depending on the applications you have installed on your NOOK. Select the "Reader" program. This will open the e-reader and you can enjoy your e-book.
