Tutt Library Research Guides
It can be hard to get your head around a thesis project when you are used to the block plan.
Many of the sections on this guide are designed to help you break out of the block and think about research, writing, composing, and recital preparation that takes months to accomplish.
It is crucial that you organize your research sources as you conduct your research! Waiting until you're finished can be disastrous.
Fortunately, there are many reference managers (for organizing research papers - collecting citations, creating bibliographies, etc.) that you may choose from.
A quick distinction:
Prospector is the system that lets you find books (and DVDs and other things) in libraries across Colorado. It's the name of both the catalog and the service. Prospector loans usually take 3-5 business days to get to Tutt Library from the time you order them.
Interlibrary Loan (or ILL) is the name of the service that lets you borrow books (and other things) and get journal articles and chapters from libraries across the country and around the world.
For Prospector, you already have an account if you can check out books at CC. You'll just use your TIGER number at the bottom of your Gold Card.
When the materials you want are not available in TIGER or Prospector, you can search in WorldCat and request them through Interlibrary Loan.
